Volunteer With LSS
Just Imagine!
Possibilities for volunteering with us are as big as your imagination! While
our volunteers currently serve in a myriad of ways, your choices are not limited
to existing options. If you have an interest, a strength or a talent you would
like to share, please let us know. We’ll find a volunteer opportunity that fits
you. There’s a place for you with LSS!
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) welcomes people of all faiths and life experiences. We
serve those in need in our community, without regard to creed or belief.
What Do Volunteers Do?

In our Community Outreach Services:
Touch-a-Life volunteers transport people for medical appointments or groceries; visit or
telephone shut-ins; provide short-term assistance with light household chores
or yard work; and help with minor repairs.
Stephen Ministers provide weekly in-home visits to people in crisis or who are having difficulty
with major life transitions to offer Christian-based encouragement and support.
Senior Companion volunteers provide in-home companionship and support to lonely or isolated individuals
on a weekly basis.
Congregational Health/Parish Nurse volunteers help members of their congregation live informed and healthy lifestyles.
Our community outreach services have offices and volunteer opportunities throughout
our service area in south central Pennsylvania. We will work with you to accommodate
your schedule and preferred location.
In our Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Volunteers:
Play the organ for church services
Visit lonely people to listen and read to them
Assist with office tasks
Teach a craft or organize a game
Escort people to restaurants or on shopping trips
Escort residents to on-site activities
Provide pet therapy
Entertain through singing, dancing or another type of performance
Our six continuing care retirement communities are located in south central Pennsylvania.
There may be one near you where you can volunteer a few hours and still get home
in time to walk the dog, make dinner or take the kids to soccer practice!
