Hello! It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Senior Living portion of the Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania (LSS) website! Our LSS division consists of six senior living communities… all conveniently located within South Central Pennsylvania. We are a mission-driven, faith-based organization committed to supporting you in achieving an optimal quality of life. Whether you reside in one of our independent living cottages or require personal or skilled nursing care… our unwavering commitment is to you. We offer opportunities to stay active and engaged in life while experiencing the peace of mind in knowing that care and services are available should you need them.
More than 700 senior living employees insure that our 1,200 residents receive attention in the form of quality service. On an average day, our housekeeping and buildings and grounds staff maintain nearly 1.2 million square feet of building space and our dining staff serves more than 2,000 meals! We are stewards of 310 acres of land on our campuses. And, we provide 24-hour nursing and supportive care to more than 550 residents residing at our skilled care and personal care centers. Our days are busy… and very rewarding.
We also partner with Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, Inc. to offer in-home support services, home healthcare, home health telemonitoring and hospice services as part of the LSS continuum of care… a distinct advantage for LSS and added benefit to those we serve! Each of the six senior living communities owned and operated by Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania is licensed by the Pennsylvania Insurance Department as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Each community offers a variety of residential living options in addition to access to personal care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. A full array of educational, social and recreational activities, plus dining and transportation services, are offered at each community. Residents can move between independent living, personal care, skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services based on changing needs.
Independent Living is for individuals who desire a maintenance-free retirement lifestyle. Individuals are responsible for caring for their basic needs at this service level. Residential living options include cottages and apartments in a variety of styles and sizes. Independent living accommodations are offered at Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Community, Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, The Village at Kelly Drive, The Village at Sprenkle Drive and Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Community.
Personal Care offers individuals 24-hour supervision while promoting their independence to the greatest extent possible. Assistance with basic needs such as meals, laundry, cleaning, medication maintenance, bathing and dressing are provided in addition to social, recreational and spiritual programming. Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Community, Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, The Village at Kelly Drive and Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Community offer this level of service.
Skilled Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Services centers provide nursing care and related health services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to individuals who require full-time care, but do not need more intensive hospital-based care. Individuals may be temporarily placed for rehabilitation following an illness, injury or surgery or reside long-term due to illness or aging. Skilled nursing care is offered at Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Community, Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at The Village at Sprenkle Drive and Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village.
