Information and Reservations
Charitable giving has always played an important role in the ministries of LSS.
Many times we provide help to individuals who lack the resources to pay for the
care and services they receive. In 2008, LSS provided over $4.2 million in benevolent
care to those individuals. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, congregations,
businesses, organizations and foundations, LSS is able to provide the same quality
care and service to everyone, without regard to their ability to pay.
Here are just a few of the ways in which charitable giving helps LSS accomplish
our mission to witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ through acts of serving and
caring:
-
Gifts to a specific Continuing Care Retirement Community
In 2008, LSS provided almost $670,000 in care to residents in Residential and
Assisted Living and almost $1.2 million in care to residents in Skilled Care for
individuals who have legitimately depleted their assets and can no longer pay
the full cost of their care.
-
Gifts to Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, Inc. (LHCH)
Hospice and home healthcare are often paid by insurance, but some clients have
limited or no medical insurance. LHCH does not turn away a person in need of care
who cannot pay for it. In 2008, LHCH served 5,253 individuals and provided over
$1.4 million in benevolent care to people who could not afford the cost of the
services they received.
-
Gifts to Community Outreach Services
Community Outreach Services provide the building blocks of a strong foundation
in the lives of many people in the community. In 2008, LSS Community Outreach
Services helped over 3,000 individuals and provided almost $860,000 in benevolent
care to those without the financial resources to pay for the care they received.
-
Gifts to LIFE Lutheran Services, Inc.
LIFE Lutheran Services is a creative, community-based program designed to enhance
the ability of seniors to live safely in their homes and communities with dignity
and independence by providing a full continuum of preventative, acute and long-term
care services.

individuals, congregations, businesses and organizations who are interested in
the LSS mission. It endeavors to strengthen ties to congregations that want to
participate in LSS ministries, to develop volunteer leadership committed to philanthropic
achievement, and to educate LSS constituents and the general public about the
