Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Thank you to all our volunteers and community partners!

Thanks to the support of our many community volunteers and partners, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program completed 2,372 federal and state tax returns resulting in $3,854,349 being refunded to York County taxpayers in the 2013 filing season.

LSS greatly appreciates the dedication of our 43 VITA volunteers who committed a combined 3,425 hours to the program and our community partners which this year included AARP Foundation Tax-Aid, Community Progress Council, Inc., DENTSPLY, Dover Area School District, Internal Revenue Service, PNC Bank, Southern Community Services, United Way of York County, White Rose Credit Union, York College of Pennsylvania,York Educational Federal Credit Union and York Technical Institute. We also are grateful to the supporters of the online filing option, which was sponsored by the Wal-Mart Foundation in partnership with Goodwill Industries, the National Disability Institute and United Way Worldwide.

“We couldn’t offer this service to York County taxpayers without the dedicated assistance of our volunteers and partners,” said Kenneth Watts, director of LSS Social & Specialty Services. “We’re already thinking about next year, so if you’re interested in becoming a VITA volunteer or partner for the 2014 tax filing season, please contact us by calling 717.854.2244 or email Rob Morgan at rmorgan@lutheranscp.org.”
