Our Volunteers
Senior Companions are volunteers 55 years of age or more. As a peer, you will learn to understand a client and his or her needs. Each Senior Companion receives 40 hours of orientation and training with additional monthly in-service trainings to enhance the volunteer experience.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
As a Senior Companion, you will develop a friendship with your client during your four to five hour visit each week. You may listen, share a light lunch, encourage the individual to pursue hobbies and interests, assist in finding services, make appointments, take a walk or even accompany your client to medical visits. A Senior Companion may help a person enjoy the comfort and independence of living at home for as long as possible.
Responsibilities include:
- Sharing your time with peers
- Sharing hobbies, social events and recreation
- Listening and offering encouragement to others
- Assisting with everyday tasks
Qualifications include:
- Aged 55 or more

- Available 15 hours per week
Senior Companions focus on enriching the lives of their clients, but do not perform housekeeping, medical or personal care duties. Senior Companions experience the joy of service to the community while assisting their clients with simple tasks of everyday living.
