Community Outreach Services
Lutheran Social Services (LSS) welcomes people of all faiths and life experiences. We
serve those in need in our community, without regard to creed or belief.
From companionship with a new-found friend to counseling with a highly skilled
professional, you may find just the right solution through our wide range of Community
Outreach Services. Offering assistance and support, counseling and educational programs, Community
Outreach Services provide the building blocks of a strong foundation in the lives
of many people in the community.
Assistance & Support
Case Management services provide support by guiding people in directions that enable them to
regain initiative in their lives. Deaf Center links the deaf community and those with hearing impairment to the wider community
through interpreting, technology and other services. Through the Senior Companion program, volunteers 60 and older provide companionship to other older adults. Stephen Ministers provide ongoing Christian care to people experiencing life needs or crises.
Touch-a-Life provides service to those with specific short-term need for support.
Counseling Services
Lutheran Counseling Services, Inc. helps guide individuals on the path to wholeness, whether the concern is depression,
anxiety, a loss or lifestyle change.
Educational Programs
ADVANCE offers educational programs for individuals who have been violent or abusive
toward their partners or children to help them learn to live non-abusively. LSS
helps coordinate Congregational Health Ministry with a variety of free services, including Parish Nurse. Financial Stability Partnership helps individuals and families improve their financial well-being and facilitates
financial literacy education for the community. Learning Tree Child Care nurtures and cares for the youngest among us while parents work.
Through Community Outreach Services, LSS touched the lives of 3,007 people in
south central Pennsylvania in 2008.
