Debbie Zeller, director of nursing (DON) – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, passed the Certified Nursing Director in Long Term Care exam in December.  Certification candidates must have an active RN license, be a member of PADONA or ASLTCN, have at least 12 months experience in nursing administration in long-term care and have a certificate of completion from the PADONA DON Advanced Course.  Zeller says her next goal is to earn certification in gerontological nursing.

Jennifer Raschke, corporate recruiter, passed the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) exam in December. 

Pam Conrad, personal care administrator – Luther Ridge Retirement Community, was recently promoted to executive director – The Village at Kelly Drive.  Julianne Devaney, executive director – The Village at Kelly Drive, accepted the role as executive director – Shrewsbury Lutheran Retirement Village. 

Beth McMaster, executive director – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, was appointed to the board of directors for Golden Visions Senior Day Care Center in October. 

Kathy Johnson, RN, director – Home Health, received a Service Spotlight Award from Edgepark Medical Supplies in October.  Johnson was nominated by a LHCH client for her persistence in the care of the client’s surgical procedure recovery.  “The other nurses were a little afraid to try new things, but Kathy would just go from one thing to the next,” said the client. “She never gave up.”  More information is available at www.edgepark.com/spotlight.

Rachel Herrington, executive director – Luther Ridge Retirement Community, received her Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP) certification in September through the University of North Texas, which is affiliated with Leading Age and the Coalition for Leadership in Aging Services (CLAS).

Crystal Hull, corporate director – Communications & Public Relations, co-authored the instructor’s manual for the IABC Handbook of Organizational Communications, a textbook that is used in college classrooms throughout the world. 

Eurith (Chucki) Long-Emerson, personal care administrator – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, and Cathy Lynn, volunteer coordinator – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, presented the educational seminar “The Face of Dementia” to the Sister of Faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in November.  November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.

Juanita Jones, program coordinator – ADVANCE, presented at the New Cumberland Army Depot on child internet safety.  Jones also joined Matt Grimes, program specialist – ADVANCE, to facilitate a day-long lethality assessment training in Fulton County for law enforcement professionals.  Additionally, Grimes spokes at York College of Pennsylvania on the profile of a batterer and at a decision-maker retreat sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Parole Board focusing on changes in conditions of release for domestic violence offenders.

Nancy Werner, chaplain – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace; Cathy Lynn, volunteer programs coordinator – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace; and Eurith (Chucki) Long-Emerson, personal care resident administrator – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace presented the PowerPoint presentation “God’s Work, Our Hands: Caring for those Suffering from Dementia” at the 2011 ELCA Lower Susquehanna Synod Assembly in June.

Marcia Hoffman, executive director – Gettysburg Lutheran Retirement Village, served on the panel for the educational session “Leadership PANPHA: Developing Leadership Talent from Within” at the 2011 PANPHA Conference in June.  Hoffman also serves on the Leadership PANPHA Fellow Committee.

PANPHA also recently announced the appointment of Angela Dohrman, vice president – Senior Living, as Chair Elect and Bob Rundle, president and CEO, to the PANPHA Board of Directors.  Beth McMaster, executive director – Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, serves on the PANPHA Planning Education Task Force.
 
Ginnie Rudisill, human resources generalist and organizational excellence coordinator, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College.
